Dry Diets
The introduction of several nutritionally complete diets formulated to improve oral health has occurred over the last few years. The strategy involves using mechanical scraping action to help clean the teeth. This goal is achieved by changing the texture and size of the kibble which prolongs and increases the chewing time of the pet. While your pet chews the food, the plaque and calculus build-up are scraped off the surface of the teeth. Uniform results will not be obtained in all situations. It may not be an ideal solution for pets who swallow their food whole or who do not spend a fair amount of time chewing their food.
