Dental chews have an antibacterial rinse baked into the product to help fight tartar and plaque. Also, there are different dental rinses on the market that can either be applied directly to your pet's mouth or poured into their drinking water.

In addition to these products, you can also discuss with your veterinarian a new Dental Vaccine produced by Pfizer, Inc. The goal of the vaccine is to target bacteria commonly isolated from a dog's mouth. The vaccine can be administered as often as every 6 months.
